It’s so cool when an art project leads to new discoveries! 

I was very proud to have 3 abstract photography pieces chosen for The Immunization Partnership’s (TIP) 2022 The Art of Awareness exhibition.  The purpose of the exhibit is to showcase and prompt a dialogue about the important role vaccines play as a part of a person’s holistic health and the health of the community.  (Exhibit through May 27th)   https://www.immunizeusa.org/

Collaborating with TIP for this event is MECA Dow Campus.  OMG…what a discovery!  MECA (Multicultural Education and Counseling Through the Arts) offers multiple afterschool arts education programs and workshops for the local community.  It is headquartered in the historic Dow School built in 1912 in the Old Sixth Ward.   https://www.meca-houston.org/meca-history.html

I’m so happy to have participated in TIP’s first immunization art exhibit (also thanks to sponsors: UofH College of the Arts and Houston Methodist Hospital) and to have learned about MECA.  Chalk one up for the power of art bringing communities together!
